Anna arrived yesterday in Brussels, some checks and a nice evening in Retromobilia - thank you Marc - restaurant and home of the Ecurie du Val d'Or (photos to follow).
Tonight viewing of "Asterix aux Jeux Olympiques" to get into the Olympic mood, something Gary must remember very vividly!
And tomorrow, start to Reims for the first official part of the rallye: the dinner offered by the local Clubs.
At the time we'll then go to dinner, we'll think of Hans Sylvan - the only other Swedisch participant - and all the crews that start from Copenhague.

Anna & Pat,
Good luck and we are all pulling for you. I have my fingers crossed.
Gary
I am excited waiting but I am confused trying to understand how this event is run. From what I have read, this race starts at 5 different cities at the same time??? Can someone explain?
Here is what I found....
330 teams will be setting off from 5 European cities for the start of the 11th Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique. As in previous years, interest was so great that the Selection Committee were obliged to turn down a good 100 applicants.
At 2:30pm, on Thursday 31st January, 30 competitors will leave from Copenhagen, arriving on Saturday 2nd February in Valence, which is the assembly town for all competitors. The remaining teams, starting in the other European cities, will only leave on Friday 1st February:
at 7:00pm, 75 cars will leave from the Place de la Mairie, Reims,
at 7:14pm, the 112 competitors who have chosen Monaco as their departure town will leave from the Place du Casino,
at 8:00pm, 59 cars will leave the Catalan capital Barcelona,
at 9:00pm, 54 cars will leave Turin, marking the final departure ceremony.
In all, an impressive 24 nationalities and 40 makes of car will be represented, a fitting illustration of the great scope of this race.
Michel Ferry, Event Director and Chairman of the ACM Historic Car Commission, was very pleased with the number of cars entered and only regretted the fact that not all vehicles could be accommodated. A high point will be the 30 competitors leaving from Copenghagen - this is the first time since the event was first held in 1998, that so many competitors have left from a North European city.
What is more, three former RAMC champions have enetered: from 40 years ago, 1968 winners, Vic Elford and David Stone at the wheel of their orange Porsche 911; 30 years on, 1978 winner, Jean-Pierre Nicolas, driving his quot;Gitanes" Porsche 911; and 20 years on, 1988 winners, Bruno Saby and Jean-François Fauchille, will be behind the wheel of their cheeky Fiat 500. Finally, the 1998 winner from ten years ago, Carlos Sainz.
Merci pour votre accueil sur le stand de Reims. Les enfants vont prendre de vos nouvelles ainsi que l'équipe de RadioHop de Reims.
